I’ve always hated winter. It’s not because I’m a Scrooge or because I hate the smell of pine, it’s because no matter how cute your outfit is you have to cover it up with a hideous down bubble of a jacket. But, no more, I say!

I’ve compiled several jackets that are not even remotely offensive. They won’t make you look like a balloon, and they’ll make a statement no matter how you wear them.

1.  Filson Elliott Bay Jacket from Sierra Trading Post.

  1. ⅘ Stars

This jacket is extremely unique. The dark camel color makes it hipster-chic without being too pretentious. The best part of this jacket would have to be the huge envelope pockets- something extremely hard to come by in women’s clothing. You can actually fit something in those! Points off for the extra effort it would take to pull this off- it’s very different.

  1. Women’s Light Weight Puffer Jacket from Target.

⅗ Stars

The separate colors for body and sleeves make this jacket look like a baseball tee, and we all know baseball tees can do no wrong. The side zipper adds a touch of flair and makes it unique from other jackets. While it is still technically a “puffy” jacket, it’s still slimming due to the black color and small bubbles. Points off for the plain-jane colors.

  1. Women’s Animagi Jacket from The North Face.

⅗ Stars

The bright pink color of this jacket is sure to make a statement. Why fit into a sea of black and white when you could be bright pink? Not to mention the slim fit of the coat, and the sipper that curves just below the neck. And of course, since it’s North Face, you know it’ll keep you nice and warm. Points off for those of you that think the pink is a little too pink.

  1. The Hollister All-Weather Bomber Jacket from Hollister.

⅖ Stars

This is probably the least warm of the lineup. But standing next to these competitors, that’s not exactly an insult. The fur covered hood will keep the wind out of your face, and the slanted pockets make it easy to tuck your hands away. My favorite part of this jacket is the high hem-line- it’ll fall right around your waist in true bomber fashion. Points off for not being a reliable winter jacket.

The weather outside is frightful, but your outfit will be so delightful (apologies).
