'Blank Space' is one of Taylor Swift's best works to Plass

Okay, I have officially decided that while Beyonce arguably may be queen, Taylor Swift is the super-cute, relatable, hilarious new princess on the pop music block. Blank Space is possible one of the best music videos of recent history.

It starts out with nice scenes, Taylor and a man referred to on a tree carving as “Sean” go on a picnic, ride horses, eat dinner and look generally very happy. She mentions that she’s insane in the chorus, but you’re too busy fawning over the mansion house and Taylor’s beautiful outfits (which according to Buzzfeed, there were 19 of), and (sigh) Louboutins.

Then, it takes a turn. She looks slightly accusingly at his phone, and gets that look in her eyes that every jealous girl knows all too well. At this point the video really goes to hell in a handbasket. She starts screaming and attacking Sean and burning his clothes and seemingly destroying his very nice antique car.

“Darling I’m a nightmare dressed like a daydream,” is one of the best lines from the song, which she predictably says while (what else?) scratching Sean’s face. Poor Sean. The video ends cleverly with a new fancy antique car driving up, and a new incredibly hunky man stepping out to await Taylor.

All of this sounds like it’s just Taylor Swift doing what she does best- attacking men unnecessarily. But it’s actually a hilarious commentary on jealousy and girls and relationships. It’s such an overreaction that you can’t help but laugh along with her about the absurdity of it all. She cries next to a deer at some point. A real-live deer.

And the song itself isn’t even bad. I actually really like it. It’s clever, and has a really awesome, listenable beat and chorus. If the song alone wasn’t enough for you, please go watch this video. It’s life changing.
