After almost two hours of tailgating before Friday’s game against Rockbridge, the mobs of people in the red sea gathered in a circle to get an inspirational speech by the leader. At the end of the speech, they all ran in a big huttle, jumped up and down, and then ran up to the game field.
Junior Ben Marks is a member of the Red Sea.
“I like the Red Sea because it is energetic and fun to be in,” Marks said.
Marks has been going to the tailgates ever since he was a freshman. Marks likes to tailgate because of the social part of it. He listens to music, sits in lawn chairs, and talks with his friends.
“My favorite part is just being in the game with everyone else,” Marks said.
Junior Dylan Norquest is also a part of the Red Sea.
“I like the Red Sea because there is so much love. Everyone likes each other,” Norquest said.
Norquest has been tailgating ever since he was in eighth grade. Last Friday when we played Rockbidge, Norquest painted a number eighteen on his chest to cheer on his friend on the football team.
“My favorite part is when we huttle up and get pumped and ready for the game,” Norquest said.
Junior Bethany Showalter has been a part of the red sea for a while. She has been tailgating ever since seventh grade.
“I like the Red Sea because everyone is full of energy and it is fun to be with my friends. I also like watching the games,” Showalter said.
The Streaks will be away for four straight weeks. Their next home game is on Homecoming week on October 15 versus Stuarts Draft.
